Kicking off Fall (a September Photo Round-Up)

Sooo... I have this radical idea that I should shoot to update the blog weekly with all the goings on of the previous week, so that I never get behind. :-P It might take until the end of the year to fully catch up, but I think that will be my plan for 2017. Until then, thanks for hanging in there with me and my sporadic posts. :)

Since Thanksgiving is only four days away I suppose it's about time I share some photos of our Fall Fun over these past couple months. This year we decided to kick off Fall with a weekend trip to Placerville for a ride on the El Dorado Western Railroad and our annual visit to Apple Hill!

Papa and Eddie waiting for our train ride
A shot of our "train." Our group of eight was in the front car, #605.
Ready to ride the rails!

The ride on these historic tracks was about 45 minutes long and although it was HOT, it was a lot of fun! We will definitely do it again someday!
After our train ride we stopped in downtown Placerville to check out my mom's new Barbie booths at Empire Antiques
After two years in storage, the Barbie mansion has been resurrected! This still only represents maybe 1/20th of my mom's collection... so she'll be in business for a while. ;)
Getting a closer look at some of the dioramas
The next day we headed up the road a few miles from Nana and Papa's house for an afternoon at Apple Hill. Our first stop was Rainbow Orchards for their famous hot apple cider donuts!
Digging in!
Next up was Kids, Inc... perhaps the best place backdrop for photos in Apple Hill. :)
And of course we had to take pics with the giant apple cut out at Boa Vista
:)

The following weekend took us to downtown Sacramento for the Farm to Fork Festival on September 24th. Sacramento fancies itself "The Farm to Fork Capital of America" which is all well and good, but we went to the festival for one reason only... THE WALLFLOWERS. If you don't know the significance of the Wallflowers, then you have no business reading this blog (kidding!).

It is not a Wallflowers concert without the one any only Pretenda!! We have seen so many WF shows over the last couple decades that I have lost count, but this is the first one we've attended together as moms, with our kiddos. A bit surreal to say the least!

Layla and Eddie, the next generation of Pretendas AND Wallflowers fans
I LOVE that the kids' first concert was the Wallflowers!!
Shaun and Ellie ventured closer to the stage toward the end of the show in search of me and Stephanie
This was me and the Pretenda's view for the majority of the show. Not too shabby. ;)
One of my first-ever selfies. Good thing I got this practice in, because...
BEHOLD THE SELFIE TO END ALL SELFIES. Stephanie and I with Jakob Dylan, September 24th, 2016. An encounter nearly 20 years in the making. I look like a crazy lady and I love this pic because it perfectly captures how manic I was feeling inside. No exaggeration... I was literally in a state of shock for at least the next three days. I lost a couple pounds because I could barely eat a thing. Don't judge. ;)

Somehow I was able to pull myself together enough to be a 32-year-old mom again. This is a shot of us in front of the band's tour bus/camper after the show before heading back to the mini van. :)
