Eloise's 5th Birthday and a Holl-"E" Joll-"E" Birthday Party

Eloise turned FIVE on Saturday, December 10! This year we decided to throw a holiday-themed birthday party for both Ellie AND Eddie the following day, December 11(remember that Eddie's birthday fell on Election Day this year, and only a few days before we left on our cruise, so he missed out on a proper birthday celebration). Since I had a lot of party prepping to do, the kids and I stayed home on Ellie's birthday proper and had a pretty low-key day.

Starting off the day with some shirt painting

Then the birthday girl insisted on giving herself a makeover

Later on it was time to clean up for her birthday outing with Daddy

Excited to shop for her birthday present at Target and pick up a birthday dinner of her choice!

Shaun reported that it didn't take long for Ellie to select this Shopkins kitchen and Easy Nails machine as her birthday presents. (I admire many things about this girl, and her decisiveness is one of them!)

Eloise and Edward's party was scheduled for 1pm the following day. This was the first birthday party we've thrown [that included guests other than family] since Avalon's 4th birthday in 2014, and the first party to celebrate our two holiday season babies!

It is hard to throw a birthday party in December; everyone's weekend schedules are already crammed full of holiday events, and it's also the height of cold and flue season. Despite those complications, we were blessed with the attendance of many family and friends to celebrate the birthdays of our "E"'s. The party attendees were Nana, Papa and Uncle Jesse, Grandma Steve, Grandma Cindy, Cousin Kristina and Aunt Kristi (Shaun's step-sister), family friends Amber and Brad and their daughter Abigail, and Ellie's best friend from preschool, Natalie, and her dad James and little brother Jacob.

After a lunch buffet of pizza, mac and cheese, veggies and fruit, it was time for a couple games! Ellie's only request for her party was that they play "Pin the Nose on Olaf." I wasn't happy with the cheapo poster version you can buy online, so I got my Pinteresty craft on and made a "life-size" Olaf for the kids to pin carrot noses onto. :)

Next up was Eddie
After Pin the Nose on Olaf we played a game called "Prize Walk", which worked just like the Cake Walks of the olden days. ;) (Unfortunately I didn't get any pics of this, which is too bad because it was a lot of fun and the kids seemed to really like it!) After games it was time for birthday cake! Nana has been keeping really busy these days with her tours AND working at the antique mall, so while she wasn't able to make one of her famous decorated cakes for the party this year, she offered to order whatever kind of cake the birthday girl desired. Ellie's choice was chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, and balloons on top!

Ellie's excited expression in this pic is just classic! I love that face! <3

After  cake and ice cream it was time to move into the living room to open birthday presents
